It is a privilege to be the Principal of Lift Broadlands. We are a small school with an inclusive approach where every child is ‘known and nurtured’ across our community. Our smallness is our strength with us having the ability to do whole school assemblies and whole school enrichment within the school day. Our size gives us the chance to come together as much as possible and means that children are truly known as individuals. This leads to strong relationships across all members of the community ensuring our students are happy, safe and successful.
Our values of bravery, kindness and effort thread through all aspects of school life and help shape our students to be the successful young people we aspire for them to be, both now and in their future career. Students are proud to attend Broadlands, they are respectful of each other and staff, and this is reflected across the school community in all interactions both in and out of the classroom.
We value education and this is evident in our calm, focused classrooms where all students are supported to make excellent progress. Our curriculum is broad and balanced with the arts playing a strong role at KS3. Students achieve well and go on a wide range of post-16 courses. As part of Lift Schools, we have set the ambitious goal of 90% of our students achieving at least a grade 4 in English and Mathematics by 2028. It is this success that will allow every young person who attends Broadlands to take ambitious next steps in the future studies and careers.
Developing our students' character and talents are as important as success in the classroom and so we have a comprehensive extra-curricular offer that includes teams, clubs, enrichment, student voice and leadership and trips - local, national and abroad. We work with local universities in both Bath and Bristol as well as local employers to ensure that our students have access to high quality work experience and careers provision so that they can make informed choices about their futures.
