Students and staff at Lift Broadlands, part of Lift Schools, are celebrating this week as they collect their GCSE and BTEC results.

This year’s students were in their last year at primary school when schools were locked down, and faced a very different start to their secondary education, at the start of the pandemic.

Students have shown resilience and determination in studying and taking their exams which they sat in May and June, with the school laying on additional lessons after school and weekend and holiday intervention.  This extra support paid off with many students achieving the grades required to go onto sixth form, for A levels, BTECs and further vocational study.

Lift Broadlands congratulates all of their students, with some of the high performers achieving:

  • Bella Feeley achieved three grade 9s, three 8s and two 7s in her subjects and will be progressing on to study A Levels in the sciences and geography at Hayesfield Girls’ School in Bath.
  • Oli Hughes achieved three grade 9s in maths and science, three 7s and three 6s and is going on to study maths and sciences at A Level at St Brendans.
  • Twins Reece and Theo Nelson-Finch achieved a grade 9, six grade 8s, four grade 7s, three grade 6s and three grade 5s and are going on to study A Levels at St Brendans.
  • Sophie Young achieved two grade 8s, one 7 and five 6s and will be going on to study A Levels at a high performing sports college where she can continue to develop her already impressive rugby career.
  • Lydia Goold achieved three grade 8s, two 7s, three 6s and a 5 and is going on to study A Levels at St Brendans.

Principal at Lift Broadlands, Laura Stone, said of the students’ success:
“I am so proud of the results that our Year 11 students have achieved. They have worked so hard this year and deserve their fantastic outcomes.  We are delighted to share in their success today and look forward to hearing about their next steps as they go on to fulfil their potential in a wide range of post 16 providers.  Their resilience and determination over the last five years is a testament to themselves and their families.”

Regional education director  at Lift Schools, Karl Sampson said:
“This is another great year for our students at Lift Broadlands. I hope they are happy with the results they are receiving today, after working so hard and with such great determination. Throughout, they have received fantastic support from staff and their parents and carers.”

Rebecca Boomer-Clark, CEO of Lift Schools said:
“Many congratulations to all of our GCSE students who yet again have some really great results. We know that many have faced challenges and I want to wish them luck with whatever they choose to do next.”
