Personal development

At Lift Broadlands, personal development is a key part of our commitment to nurturing confident, resilient, and compassionate young people. Our programme is rooted in our core values of effort, bravery, and kindness, which guide students in how they learn, interact with others, and grow as individuals. Through a comprehensive PSHE curriculum, assemblies, and daily school life, we support students in developing emotional wellbeing, social awareness, and the skills they need to thrive beyond the classroom.

We offer a wide range of after-school clubs across subjects such as PE, Drama, Art, and Music, giving pupils the chance to explore their interests, express themselves creatively, and build valuable life skills. Our vibrant sports programme allows students to compete in a variety of sports including football, rugby, cross country, netball, indoor cricket, rounders, and athletics. Teams represent the school in the Somerset Cup, National Cup, and local BANES leagues, promoting teamwork, resilience, and pride in achievement.

We are proud to have built strong partnerships with Somerset Cricket and Bath Rugby, providing students with exciting opportunities for professional coaching, development days, and the chance to attend senior games throughout the year — further inspiring a love of sport and ambition beyond school.

In addition, we enrich the student experience with input from guest speakers and external agencies throughout the year. These include Avon Fire & Rescue, Ahead of the Game, Air Ambulance, the I Can I Am Bus, and SMASHED Productions, who work with pupils on important topics related to PSHE, personal safety, wellbeing, and understanding the wider world.

At Lift Broadlands, we are proud to support every student in becoming the best version of themselves — equipped not only for academic success but for life beyond school.
